MAR THOMA SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN IN NEED OF SPECIAL CARE
‘Mar Thoma School for Children in Need of Special Care’ at Kalyan for differently abled children was started by our parish on 8th Aug, 1992 at our old church premises at Karnik Road under the able guidance of late Rev. T. P. Koshy (Sr.). In 2003, we acquired 5.5 acres of land at Goveli (Titwala). As part of our Golden Jubilee project, the church undertook a project to build two schools at Goveli, one for the differently abled children and the other, an English medium school.
The foundation stones for the Mar Thoma School for Children in Need of Special Care and the English medium school were laid by our the then Diocesan Episcopa Rt Rev. Joseph Mar Bernabas on Sunday, 15th January 2006 in
the presence of our former vicar and the founder of the Special Care School Late Rev. T. P. Koshy and vicars from other parishes, followed by a public meeting. In 2008, the special care school was shifted to the newly constructed building at Goveli.
The dedication of the school building at Goveli was conducted by the then Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Joseph Mar Barnabas on Sunday, 15th Jun, 2008. 60 children are enrolled with the special care school. The Management of the school is handed over to the Diocese for a giving better direction to the children.
